Cowboy Mounted Shooting  is one of the fastest growing Equestrian sports. It's a timed event featuring a rider engaging a course of ten targets, using two old west single action revolvers, loaded with certified blanks. The fastest time wins after adding five second penalties for each missed target and course errors. The sport has participants ranging from cap gun wielding 8 year olds to grandmothers on mules shooting Colt 45s.   About 40% of competitors are women.  Even though the ammunition is a blank, the revolvers and rifles are real firearms.

Imagine the excitement of riding a galloping horse around one of fifty different courses. Challenging enough, but add firing five rounds from one pistol, holstering, drawing another and then firing five more rounds, traveling at speeds of thirty-five miles per hour. Rifle, Cavalry and Pro Classes are other events offered during many competitions. Cowboy Mounted Shooting is one exciting sport that draws the public’s attention!
