CMSA members earn WPQ points when they enter World Point Qualifier (WPQ) matches sponsored by CMSA affiliated clubs or the CMSA itself. A rider earns one point for entering the match, and an additional point for each rider they place above in the overall standings for the match (excluding wranglers). Most club sponsored matches are either single point or double point matches, but state championship matches are triple point, and regional championship matches are quadruple point. A single or double point WPQ match must consist of at least four stages, and have a minimum of ten riders not including wranglers. Higher level matches must have at least six stages. An affiliated club, like ACMSA, pays $5 per rider for single point and $10 per rider for double point matches to CMSA. For special matches like Grand American, State, or Regional Championship, the club pays only $5 per rider even though these matches are multiple points.
CMSA riders earn points to qualify for or win prizes for the year. Riders who want to enter the World Championship must earn a minimum of 200 points during 2006. A rider who qualifies to enter the World Championship is qualified to win both class and overall championship prizes for the match. To qualify for the Colt Eliminator World Points Competition, held in conjunction with the World Championship, it will take a minimum of 400 points for men and 300 points for women. Juniors follow their gender for qualification. CMSA tracks total WPQ points at the national, regional, state, and club levels. At year end, there are prizes for the male and female riders who have the most points at the national, regional, and state levels. Riders must have a minimum of 200 points to qualify for these prizes. Prizes at the club level are left to the individual clubs. For ACMSA year end club point’s awards, ACMSA calculates points for all ACMSA matches whether or not they are WPQ's
